Well my nails keep braking but I want a french manicure done on them before I go on holiday...in the middle of May. If I cut my nails now, and let them grow back, would they have enough time to grow back before my holidays so I can get them done...I only said that because I find if I cut my nails when they all start braking...then put strengthener on them...they grow back quite well. Thanks xFinger nails/French manicures?
Better than getting acrylic or false nails, try Nails Inc's 3-week manicure - it's worked wonders for my dry, brittle nails.
They layer a plant based gel over your own nails that lasts for 3 weeks. In that time, my nails all grew to a really good length and are amazingly strong. Repeating just makes them even better. You can have french manicure done in the gel, or various colours (or clear).
I don't want to sound like an advert for them (unless they're paying me!!!) but it really has saved my nails - I had false extensions for ages and it made my real nails worse and worse.
EDIT: If you do want to grow them, cut them all back to the same length and start again from there, keep moisturising your hands and nails to help them grow.Finger nails/French manicures?
Should be ok, could always have false ones done. The sally hansen range of treatments are very very good and not badly priced either.
Don't cut your nails because they will do that at the salon when you get it done
I don't know if different people's nails grow at the same rate but if your nails grow like mine you should have loads of time to let your nails grow. Keep using the nail strengthener to stop your nails from breaking. My nails grow really fast so if I don't file them down every so often and left them for a couple of weeks they'd be claws. My friend was having a beautician come to her birthday party once and she was doing french manicures on people and I only gave my nails a week to grow for it and they were fine. French manicures can be done on most nails, even if they're really short! My friend managed it and she bites her nails down.
i think you will get enough growth to have a manicure by then.. so yes, cut them down and start again
Mine do that but even if i cut them all back to nothing as soon as they start to get long one will break (normally the one on my pinkie cos it grows faster than the others) and then they break one by one. I've never kept them long except with acrylics.
Make sure all of them have at least 5mm length on them.
dont cut ur nails the salon peeps will do it for you
My nails do that too and I have just cut mine down quite short. I do my own french manicures and when the actual nail is short I just do the white tips a bit bigger, it still looks very nice.
I would go with your own suggestion of trimming them and putting strengthener on, maybe a another hard top coat as well to protect. I find Avon Gloss Guard pretty indestructible and I have tried a few!
If you don't think they are long enough by the time you go to get your holiday manicure, have some acrylic or gel tips done.
i personally like to get acrylic nails put on before an event because my nails crack a lot, then i get a french manicure on them one or two days before i go to the event.
you could cut your nails now, they should have a decent amount of time to grow back if you put strengthener on them. you can also go to a full service salon and ask one of the people that works there what their suggestion would be, they are trained in that sort of thing.
hope this helps.
French manicures look extremely charming on short nails too. I would recommend a sheer white for the tips rather than the stark white. The sheer white looks way more natural. But anyway. There is a great new nail strengthener out by Revlon. It's called Calcium Gel Nail Hardener. Put that on everyday and then go get your french manicure. You should be fine.
