Why are white tip nails called french tip?

just wondering whyWhy are white tip nails called french tip?
Call anything French and it is a guaranteed seller. Now my head is going on French Fries French Kissing......Why are white tip nails called french tip?
i dunno... cause they are from france maybe?

I am wondering it too. Sorry I have no answer for that but that caught my attention and I will do some research for that. Just check soon and I will post/add it here when I can find the answer.
Sounding more exotic usually enables one to charge more for an otherwise mundane product.
This form of manicure was actually made famous in the US. The reason why is called french is to give it an exotic name. Same reason why lots of products use ';European'; in their name.
